THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The cranes brought by the Chinese ship for the construction of Vizhinjam International Port could not be unloaded for the second consecutive day. The main reason is the non-availability of emigration clearance from the Ministry of External Affairs for the ship's crew. All 30 crew members of the ship, including the captain, are Chinese. Their assistance is also needed to lower the cranes.

They have not been able to leave the ship as they do not have immigration clearance. The Indian employees of the company that manufactured the crane have also arrived at the port. Adani Group sources said that efforts are being made to get immigration clearance. Preparations for unloading the three cranes were completed on Monday.

Shenhua 15, the first ship to arrive in Vizhinjam, was given a grand reception. The ship approached the harbour with a water salute. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan officially welcomed the ship in the presence of dignitaries including Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonawal, Adani Vizhinjam Port Limited Chairman Karan Adani, CEO Rajesh Jha, Union Minister V Muraleedharan,

Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan. Various political, religious and community leaders participated in the function.

At the same time, when the first ship reached Vizhinjam, the State-Central Govt earned Rs 30 crores in revenue. GST stands at 18 per cent of the price of cranes. Rs 30 crore was paid to the treasury the previous day.
