KOCHI: CBI raided 76 places in 11 states including Kerala against cyber frauds and seized a huge collection of digital devices like laptops, hard disk. A 100 crore cryptocurrency scam was also busted.
The raids were conducted under the name of Operation Chakra Two in collaboration with private, national and international agencies. Apart from Kerala, the raids were conducted in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Bihar, Delhi, West Bengal and Himachal Pradesh.
32 mobile phones, 48 laptops, hard disks, 33 SIM cards and pen drives were seized. Several bank accounts were frozen. 15 e-mail accounts used for cyber frauds were also found.
Nine call centers in five states were also found to be running under the guise of a global IT company and a multinational online trading firm. A Rs 100 crore scam attempted under the guise of a fake crypto mining operation was also busted.
The CBI said that the information collected through Operation Chakra will be handed over to international agencies.
