ALAPPUZHA: The hometown of former chief minister V S Achuthanandan is in a festive mood as their veteran leader turns 100. There are special poojas in his name at the Maloor Kavil Devi Temple which is the family temple of VS’ mother.

Reports said VS’ nephew made the offering. VS have not visited this temple even once. Once his relatives and the people of that area had visited VS seeking donation for the renovation of the temple. He thought how he could send them back empty-handed as all those who came were all his close ones. Finally, VS gave Rs 1000 and asked them to construct a library near the temple.

Meantime, many including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan sent birthday wishes to the veteran leader. The chief minister said the life of comrade V S Achuthanandan has traveled along with the history of modern Kerala and the role of leaders including VS in transforming Kerala into today’s Kerala is undeniable.
