NEW DELHI: The center has changed the name of India's first semi-high speed regional train. The name Rapid X was renamed as 'Namo Bharat'. The central government's decision came when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was to inaugurate the train tomorrow. The Prime Minister will flag off the first train to Sahibabad-Duhai depot in Uttar Pradesh tomorrow.
The new project is part of the Regional Rapid Transit system. The service of the new rapid train is on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut route. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the first corridor of the expressway tomorrow. High-speed trains will be operated at 15-minute intervals from tomorrow. The Delhi-Meerut route has a total length of 82 km. The distance of the completed road is 17 km. The Delhi-Meerut route is planned to be completed by June 2025.
Special features of Namo Bharat
Namo Bharat trains are equipped with all modern facilities and will be a new experience for the passengers. Safety equipment on the train includes CCTV cameras, an emergency door system and a system that talks to the train operator at the press of a switch. These trains can reach a speed of up to 160 kmph. However, in the first phase, the train service will not run at this speed.
Train fare
According to National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the fare for traveling from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot is Rs 20 to Rs 50 in standard class. 100 for travel in premium class travel. Children below 90 cm in height can travel freely. A premium class journey from Sahibabad to Dubai Depot will cost between Rs 40 and Rs 100 depending on the distance.
Criticizes congress
Congress came forward criticizing the rename of Rapid X. After Namo stadium now Namo Trains. Ramesh wrote on Twitter that there is simply no limit to Modi's self-obsession. Congress leader Pawan Khera quipped that the name Bharat should not be used and the name of the country should be changed to Namo.
