KASARGOD: The Excise Department has arrested a housewife who used to sell ganja from her home. Suhrabi (37), the wife of Adka native Abdul Sameer, was taken into custody during an inspection by Kasaragod Excise and Enforcement Anti-Narcotics Special Squad Inspector GA Shankar and his team. The Excise team seized 4 kg of ganja from her house. The accused was later produced in the Kasargod Judicial First Class Magistrate (1) Court and remanded.

Locals had formed a defence force against the sale of ganja in the area. The Excise team conducted the inspection after receiving information about the widespread sale of ganja in the Ichilangod and Adka areas. Excise officials said that Suhrabi's husband Sameer is an accused in various cases. The Excise team comprised Preventive Officer KV Murali, James Abraham Kurio, Civil Excise Officers C Ajeesh, K Satheesan, Sonu Sebastian and Woman Officer Meymol John.
