THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan wished former Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan, who is celebrating his 100th birthday, after reaching his home. The Chief Minister met VS at Velikkakathu, his son Arunkumar's residence near Law College, Thiruvananthapuram. The release of the book on the life of VS is being held at Ayyankali Hall. Pinarayi was visiting VS before participating in this event. The Chief Minister arrived when VS was dozing off due to exhaustion. Arun Kumar, son of VS, said that the Chief Minister returned immediately after greeting him on his birthday.


Chief Minister had shared a Facebook post yesterday, on the occasion of VS's birthday, wishing him a happy birthday. Chief Minister said in the Facebook post that the interventions made by VS as a people's representative, leader of the opposition and Chief Minister through popular protests after the formation of Kerala state are remarkable. Pinarayi also pointed out that VS is a leader who stood against exploitation along with the toiling masses.

Birthday wishers were not allowed to see VS due to the strict restrictions advised by the doctors. Payasam was the only extra dish on the birthday. Party workers are organizing a birthday celebration near Velikkakathu house in Punnapra Paravoor, Alappuzha. The Alappuzha house is closed as VS is at his son's house
