BENGALURU: Father was beaten to death by his son for saying that the sambar was too spicy. The incident took place on Wednesday night in Nangala village of Virajpet taluk in Kodagu District of Karnataka. CK Chittiappa (63), a resident of Nangala village, was the one who was killed by his son. He scolded his son that the sambar made by him was too spicy following which the son beat Chittiappa to death. Police arrested Chittiappa's son Darshan Thammaiah (38) in the incident.

Chittiappa was living with his children as his wife died earlier. His eldest son's wife was the one who used to prepare food at home. Since the eldest son and daughter-in-law had gone to their relative's house for a visit, the food was prepared by Chittiappan's younger son, Darshan. The sambar made by him was spicier than usual. It is reported that Chittiappa scolded Darshan several times saying that the curry had no taste and was too spicy.

Enraged by this, Darshan beat his father. Chittiappa who was seriously injured in the beating was rushed to the hospital but died. Virajpeta Rural Police, who came to know about the incident, registered a case and registered the arrest of the son. Police said the accused confessed to the crime.
