murdercase

MUMBAI: Police have arrested two women, who are relatives, in the case of poisoning and killing five members of a family in Maharashtra. The Koodathayi murder occurred in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra. Shankar Kumbhare, his wife Vijaya, sons Roshan, Komal and Vijaya's sister Varsha were all killed.

All five family members were murdered within 20 days, and examinations have revealed similarities in the causes of their deaths. During the subsequent investigation, Roshan's wife, Sanghamitra and Shankar's cousin Rosa were arrested. All the victims exhibited similar health changes and were killed through small, gradual doses of poison administered at different times.

The accused began administering the poison in mid-September. They used a slow-acting poison that gradually damages internal organs. Sanghamitra's marriage was one in which her relatives were not interested and police have reported incidents of domestic violence at her husband's house. This is believed to be the motive behind the murders. The police have also found evidence suggesting that Sanghamitra's in-laws were involved in her father's recent suicide.

Simultaneously, police disclosed that a property dispute was the source of Rosa's grudge against the murdered Shankar. When Sanghamitra became aware of her family's issues, she collaborated. The accused obtained information about the poison online. The police are conducting further investigations into the incident and are exploring whether anyone else assisted them.
