KANNUR: Marian Apparels Company in Kannur has announced that it will not be accepting orders to sew uniforms for the Israeli police until the conflict is resolved. This decision follows a significant loss of civilian lives during the ongoing conflict. The company had received an order for cargo pants and shirts meant for police training but these orders will also not be fulfilled. This decision has been communicated to the Israeli agency responsible for the order.
Mr Thomas Olikkal, the Managing Director of Marian Apparels Company stated that despite incurring significant financial losses, this decision is a show of support for the people affected by the war. Earlier, Kerala Kaumudi had reported that Marian Apparels had a contract to supply 100,000 uniform shirts to the Israeli police as part of an eight-year agreement.
Additionally, Minister P Rajeev expressed his support for this decision on Facebook. He stated that the company's officials had conveyed that the choice was made due to their disagreement with the loss of innocent lives. The production of the current uniform order will be completed and shipped by December. This order comprises 100,000 uniforms.
Shijin Kumar, the factory manager, assured that the company intends to maintain its relationship with the Israeli agency and cooperation will continue once the conflict is resolved. Marion Apparels is also involved in providing uniforms for police, fire departments and security companies in various countries, including the Philippines, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
