MANANTHAVADY: A man committed suicide after hacking his wife and son to death in Wayanad. The incident happened at Chethalayam in Sulthan Bathery early Saturday morning. Shaju of Puthen Purakkal committed suicide after killing his wife Bindu and son Basil.

Shaju was found lying dead in his bedroom. Initial reports said a family dispute led him to take the drastic step. The court had banned Shaju from entering the house where his wife and son live. Violating this, Shaju reached there and killed his wife and son. The incident came to light when Bindu’s daughter in UK did not get her mother on phone when she called her this morning. As she could not get her mother on the phone, she contacted the neighbors and relatives. When they came to the house and examined, found Bindu and Basil lying dead. Shaju was also lying dead in a closed bedroom.

Similar incidents are continuing in state. A man had committed suicide after killing his four-year-old son in Alappuzha last week. Mithun Kumar (John 34), son of Simon and Susan of Mannar committed suicide after killing his son Delvin John.

A man had committed suicide after killing his nine-year-old son in Pathanamthitta. Mathew T Alex (47) of Kallumpurath Puthenpurakkal ended his life killing his son Melvin Mathew.
