THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thulavarsham has started in the state. IMD said that strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour along with rain accompanied by thunder and lightning are likely at isolated places in Kerala till Wednesday.

Yellow alert has been declared in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Idukki districts today. Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad districts are on yellow alert tomorrow and Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad districts will be under yellow alert on Monday.

Meanwhile, Tej, which was formed in the Arabian Sea, has intensified into a severe cyclone. IMD has informed that the low pressure over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into an extreme low pressure by tomorrow.
The Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is no disruption to fishing in the Kerala-Karnataka coast and Lakshadweep area. Strong winds with gustiness of 40 to 45 kmph and occasional gusts up to 55 kmph and bad weather are likely over the central Bay of Bengal today. Fishermen should be careful.
