NEW DELHI: More revelations on Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra's alleged bribery from businessman Darshan Hiranandani to raise questions in Parliament. Darshan alleged that Mahua Moitra took benefits from him like expensive luxury goods, renovation expenses of the officially sanctioned bungalow in Delhi and other travel expenses. He revealed that Moitra was a traveller within India and in different parts of the world and he had borne the necessary expenses.
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and Moitra's ex-partner and Supreme Court lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai had come forward with allegations that Moitra took bribe from Hiranandani to raise questions in Parliament. Dehadrai has also released the list of luxury items Moitra received in exchange for asking questions in Parliament.
According to Dehadrai, the first luxury gift received on this list is an iPhone. He also showed a photo from Moitra's Facebook page of her holding an iPhone similar to the 14 Pro model, as evidence. Another luxury gift is expensive Hermès scarves. A small scarf costs about $510 on Hermès' website. In India, these are available for a price of Rs 30,000 to Rs 38,000. However, the number of scarves of this type is not mentioned.
The third gift is scarves from Louis Vuitton. On the company's website, such scarves are priced between Rs 50,000 and Rs 495,000. Moitra also allegedly bought 35 pairs of shoes from Salvatore Ferragamo. These are priced between Rs 70,000 to Rs 1,10,000. The lawyer says that if a pair costs Rs 80,000 on average, the value of these will come to 28 lakhs. Another gift is wines from France and Italy. It costs between Rs 5000 and Rs 50000 per bottle. Gucci bags worth Rs 2 lakh are also on the list of gifts.
