Known for his powerful shots, Bobby Charlton played 106 matches for the England national team and scored 49 goals. He scored 249 goals for Manchester United. Charlton held the record for England's top goalscorer for more than four decades. Both his records were surpassed by another United player, Wayne Rooney.

Bobby Charlton made 758 appearances for United between 1956 and 1973. Charlton, along with George Best and Denis Law, played a crucial role in leading United to victory in the 1968 European Cup. Charlton won three English league titles and one FA Cup for United. He also served as a director of United for 39 years after his retirement. He was suffering from dementia since 2020.
