Following intense pressure from the US and other countries, trucks with charitable aid started going to Gaza through the Rafah border in Egypt on Saturday. 20 trucks were transported yesterday. Hundreds of thousands of people, displaced by the war, are in dire straits in Gaza, without drinking water and food. Even the injured are fleeing in search of shelter. The Red Crescent has informed that 20 trucks of aid will not be enough in Gaza, which has more than 23 million people.
The next phase of the truck convoy is expected to cross the Rafah border soon, the UN said. It is reported that around 30 trucks will reach Gaza in the second phase. Apart from India, various countries have already started sending aid to Egypt for Gaza. But Israel's threat to intensify its airstrikes and force people to flee northern Gaza has raised concerns.
