KASARAGOD: In a rare case of punitive action against traffic violators, a court sentenced Rs 25,000 fine on the mother of a 16-year-old girl, after she allowed her daughter to drive on the road without a license. Udinoor native Faseela (36) was also sentenced to imprisonment until the court adjourns on Sunday. The rare judgment came from the Kasaragod Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.
On 2020 March 18, the police team led by the then Chandera SI Muralidharan, while conducting a vehicle inspection, seized a scooter driven by a minor girl from the North Thrikkaripur side. When questioned thoroughly, the girl admitted that her mother gave her the scooter to ride. The police then took the scooter into custody and filed a case against Faseela.
