HYDERABAD: BJP has released the first list of candidates for the Telangana assembly elections. A list of 52 people has been released in the first phase. The final decision on the candidates was taken after the Central Election Committee meeting presided by JP Nadda on Friday.
MLA T Raja Singh, who faced disciplinary action for his anti-Prophet remarks, will also contest. Raja Singh will seek a mandate from Goshamahal. Raja Singh's suspension was lifted before the announcement of candidates. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah had also attended the meeting. Former BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar MP will contest from Karimnagar and Arvind Dharmapuri MP from Korutla. Another MP, Soyam Bapu Rao, will seek a mandate from Adilabad.
Etela Rajender will contest against Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in Gajwel. Congress had announced their list of 55 candidates last week. The 119-constituency Telangana Assembly will go to polls on November 30.
Meanwhile, protests are intensifying in Madhya Pradesh after the release of the candidate list. Party members are protesting at the Madhya Pradesh PCC headquarters demanding that Deepti Singh be contested. Women are protesting with posters of Deepti. Protests are also taking place in front of the BJP headquarters in Rajasthan. Activists burnt tires in front of the road. The followers of the leaders who did not get seats are the ones who are protesting. The supporters of BJP leader Munnalal Goyal are protesting in front of Jyotiraditya Scindia's residence. The BJP protest in Madhya Pradesh had turned violent.
