RAMAPURAM: A man who had been on the run for 15 years in a theft case is now in police custody. Arul Raj aged 38 and originally from Tamil Nadu was arrested. The incident occurred in 2008 in Veliyanoor. He was arrested by Ramapuram police after attempting a burglary in this area. After his arrest, he was granted bail but he then disappeared leading the court to issue a warrant for his arrest. He was arrested in Namakkal Erode during a search carried out by a special investigation team led by District Police Chief K Karthik tasked with tracking down accused people who had skipped bail. The team also included Ramapuram station SI Manoj PV and CPOs Biju K Ramesh, Arun, Vineet Raj and Shyam Mohan. The accused has been presented in court and remains in custody.
