THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The modest rains that have been visiting Kerala will turn more ferocious in the coming days predicted IMD. As part of the sudden change in intensity, Kerala will receive heavy rainfall on Monday. Rain warning has been issued in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Palakkad districts.

The Indian Meteorological Department has informed about the possibility of light rain at isolated places in the Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts in the next three hours. Low pressure in the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a very intense depression. Meanwhile, Cyclone Hamoon is brewing in the Bay of Bengal.

The National Center for Ocean Information (INCOIS) said that high waves and storm surges are likely to occur in the Kerala coast (Vizhinjam to Kasaragod) till 11:30 pm tonight and 1.2 to 3.0 meters high waves in the south Tamil Nadu coast (Kulachal to Keelakarai) till 11:30 pm. Fishing activities have been banned in these areas.
