KOCHI: The police conducted a surprise drug inspection at Marine Drive in Ernakulam. The police team led by the ACP conducted body checks on youths whom they found suspicious. Police examined several youths in the presence of the media. A video of a young man arguing with the police during the inspection is going viral on social media.

The argument began when the police conducted a body check on a youth with long hair. When the police touched his body during the inspection, the youth said, "I don't like being touched there, sir."

"I don't carry any MDMA or LSD. Due to my lengthy hair and beard, many people have an incorrect perception of me. Keep your hands off of me; I don't like it. All this touching has a limit, sir," the young man said.

However, the police replied that they were only conducting the body check as part of their duty. "There are many people with long hair and beards. We are conducting the inspection not because of your long hair but due to suspicious behaviour. We told you this very lovingly and politely. The police have certain powers. You should understand that," said ACP.

Meanwhile, the police arrested 12 people with narcotic substances during the lightning inspection conducted at Marine Drive two days ago. The police conducted the surprise inspection by dividing themselves into two teams as per the directions of the DCP. People have been prohibited from visiting Marine Drive after 10 p.m. due to drug trade and other crimes. The police conducted the inspection after receiving information that several people reached there violating the order. The police took 12 people into custody after questioning those with suspicious behaviour.
