KOZHIKODE: The family of a police officer, who was found dead while on duty, has alleged that there is a mystery behind the death. According to the relatives, the police officer committed suicide due to work pressure. Senior Civil Police Officer MP Sudheesh of Kuttiady Police Station in Kozhikode was found dead yesterday evening. The family members also said that Sudheesh's mobile phone was missing.
Sudheesh had reported for duty yesterday morning. He went missing around eleven o'clock in the morning. Later, he was found hanging on the top floor of a building near the station during the search conducted by the police officers. The body was removed from the building at half past nine and an inquest was held. Relatives said that they were not allowed to enter the building in the meantime. The family alleged that there was a mystery in the fact that Sudheesh's mobile phone had gone missing. Although the CCTV footage showed that Sudheesh was carrying his mobile phone after he went missing, the mobile phone was not found near the body, the family said.
"Sudheesh was under tremendous stress due to work. He was part of the investigation team of the case related to a chit fraud registered at Kuttiady station. Later, the investigation of this case was handed over to the Crime Branch. Although the charge was handed over, the documents related to the case were not handed over to the Crime Branch. Sudheesh was tasked to prepare these documents. The deadline to submit these documents had come to an end. He was under a lot of stress in this regard," Sudheesh's relative said.
"Sudheesh had kept a distance from his family and friends for the past few days. Yesterday, he had an argument with an officer of the station over the case. The sub-division DySP also spoke to Sudheesh about the matter. It is said that the DySP spoke to Sudheesh about the lapse from his side in the case," the relative added.
Meanwhile, police officials said that there were no such issues at the station.
