RANCHI: Five members of a family were killed after a car fell off a bridge at Sikatiya barrage in Jharkhand's Deoghar. The accident happened this morning.

The SUV that met with the accident was going from Asansol Sankul village in Deoghar to Giridih district. It is reported that the car lost control and fell into the river after the driver tried to take a selfie while driving. Some reports claim that the driver was an engineer.

The car was taken out after the police reached the spot. The bodies were shifted to Deoghar Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. The police said that a detailed investigation was going on regarding the accident.

Earlier in the day, seven people were killed after a car collided with a bus in Tamil Nadu. The accident took place on the Krishnagirii National Highway in Tiruvannamalai today morning.

The car involved in the accident was carrying a group of workers from a glue manufacturing factory in Puducherry. The Tata Sumo they were travelling in collided with a Tamil Nadu Road Transport bus. Six workers from Assam and one from Tamil Nadu died. Five people lost their lives on the spot. Two died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. Many people suffered injuries. They were shifted to Chengam Government Hospital. The cause of the accident is still unclear.
