KOCHI: Renowned vlogger Shakir Subhan aka Mallu Traveler is set to return home after the Kerala High Court granted him interim bail in a sexual assault case registered on the complaint by a Saudi Arabian woman. It was Shakir himself who announced this through social media. The court had granted interim anticipatory bail in the case last Friday.
'Finally heading back home after a month of adventures and experiences. Can't wait to reunite with family, share stories, and find solace in the familiar embrace of home sweet home,' Shakir Subhan wrote on his Facebook page.
It is reported that the High Court granted Shakir bail on the conditions that he wouldn't leave Kerala under any circumstance and would produce his passport.
Earlier, some reports had claimed that the police had issued a lookout notice against Shakir. However, the vlogger denied this news. In a social media post, Shakir wrote that there was no need for him to return to the state just because a person filed a false case against him and that he would return to Kerala only if the police or the court asked him to do so.
It was a 29-year-old woman from Saudi Arabia who lodged a sexual assault complaint against Shakir. In her complaint, she accused Shakir of attempting to sexually assault her at a private hotel in Ernakulam. It is said that Shakir Subhan reached the hotel to interview the woman. The police said that the woman's fiance was also present at the hotel at the time. However, the complainant stated that Shakir tried to sexually assault her when her fiance went out.
