BHOPAL: The dispute in BJP and Congress has intensified with the release of the candidate lists for the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections.
6 BJP leaders and 5 Congress leaders who were denied seats have resigned. Former minister Rustam Singh, who resigned from BJP yesterday, has joined BSP. His son Rakesh Singh is a BSP candidate. Rustam Singh came forward to support his son.
The dispute over more than 20 seats in the state is still going on. The discontent in the party reached an explosion with the announcement of candidates for 92 more seats. Dispute is intensifying in Congress as well. There were protests in around 40 constituencies in Congress. BJP has announced 228 candidates for the 230-member assembly. Congress candidate list is complete.
BJP workers had protested against Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav last day. In Jabalpur, supporters of former minister Sharad Jain surrounded the minister and manhandled an official. A massive protest took place in the minister's office for an hour. In the final list, 29 MLAs, including three ministers, were denied seats by BJP.
There was a strong protest in Rajasthan last day after the release of the second list of 83 people, including Vasundhara Raje Scindia. BJP workers protested in front of the state committee office.
No seat, heart attack
Senior BJP leader Uma Shankar Gupta, who was denied a seat, was admitted to the hospital due to a heart attack, and as the news spread, hundreds of workers gathered and held massive protests in many places. Shankar Gupta was a former Home Minister and a three-time Bhopal South MLA.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Shobha Ojha has alleged that Revenue Minister Govind Singh Rajput and senior leader Kailash Vijay Vargiya are offering money to get votes. Congress has released a video related to this. The video of the minister saying that he will pay Rs 25 lakh to the in-charge of the booth where the BJP gets more votes, and Kailash Vijayavargia saying that the in-charge of the booth where the Congress does not get even a single vote will be paid Rs 51,000 has been released.
