THRISSUR: A woman was struck by lightning while she was breast feeding her baby. Aishwarya (36), wife of Subeesh of Poomangalam Panchayat Kalparambu Vengattumbilly near Siva Temple sustained burns. The incident happened Monday evening at 7 pm.

Aishwarya was leaning on the wall and breast feeding her six-month old baby. The switch boards and the bulbs of the house exploded with a big sound. In the meantime, she and her baby were thrown away by the electric current which passed through the wall.

Aishwarya sustained burns on her back and her hair was burnt. An examination at the Irinjalakuda Cooperative Hospital yesterday, found that she has some hearing problems. Aishwarya's two other children and parents were at home at the time of the incident. However, they did not sustain any injuries. Some damages were reported in nearby houses.
