THRISSUR: A KSRTC driver was beaten brutally in the middle of the road. The incident happened yesterday afternoon at 2 pm in Thrissur Ollur Centre. The driver was beaten using a helmet for overtaking during a traffic jam. The visuals of it are being circulated in the social media.

Driver Abdul Shukkoor and the conductor of the bus operating special service from Thodupuzha depot to Thrissur was beaten brutally. There was heavy traffic jam in the Ollur area at the time of the incident. In the meantime, the reason for the provocation was that the bus moved forward along the right side.

A youth identified as Vijith who came from the opposite direction on a bike created the commotion first. He stopped the bus and questioned the driver. After this, some youths who came in a lorry also attacked the driver. The visuals show some youths attacking the driver and beating him with his helmet. Abdul Shukkoor who got out of the bus was beaten in the middle of the road. The visuals show cleaner Minna who got out of the lorry first, abusing and beating Shukkoor.

The driver sustained injuries on his face and hands in the attack. He was hit on the face and the visuals show him crying. They were discharged from the hospital after seeking treatment. The Ollur police have taken Vijith of Thaikkattusseri, lorry driver Murshid and cleaner Minna into custody.
