KOCHI: The medical bulletin of the man suspected to have died due to food poisoning in Kakkanad is out. Rahul D Nair (24), a native of Kottayam, passed away today at 2.55 pm. The man's organs failed due to an infection. Rahul was treated by expert doctors. The medical bulletin says that it will be possible to know the cause of death only after the results of the expert examination.

Rahul sought treatment at a private hospital in Kakkanad on Saturday in critical condition. Since then he was placed on a ventilator. He then suffered a heart attack followed by kidney failure. He was kept alive by dialysis. Doctors later informed that he died due to septic shock.

Rahul was a contract employee of SFO Company in Kakkanad Industrial Area. Last Thursday, he ordered a shawarma from Le Hyatt Hotel in Kakkanad. His friends also ate it but they had no problems. Experiencing health issues, Rahul sought treatment at the hospital. He returned to his residence but became unwell and was again admitted to the hospital on Sunday morning.

Rahul's friends had complained to the Thrikakkara Municipal Health Department over the phone. A group led by Health Supervisor Sahadevan shut down 'Le Hyatt' from where the shawarma was bought. Officials of the Food Safety Department also carried out an inspection. Rahul's postmortem will be conducted tomorrow at Kalamassery Medical College.
