PAYYANUR (KANNUR): Man who killed his wife by slitting her throat surrendered at the police station. VK Prasanna (35) of Kangol Paparatta Bommaradi Colony is the one who was killed. The accused Vallikudian Shaji (40) surrendered at Payyannur station. The incident happened at 2.30 pm yesterday. They have three children.

The two have been living apart for two years. Shaji reached the house in Bommaradi Colony in Kangol around 2 pm on Wednesday. Locals say that Shaji arrived after Prasanna called him. It is not clear what was the immediate provocation for the brutal killing. All the neighbours were in the house next door because there was a wedding going on there. The body was cut with a knife used at home.

Payyannur DySP KE Premachandran, Peringome Police Inspector P Subhash, Police Forensic Section etc. conducted an inspection. The body was shifted to Pariyaram Kannur Medical College for post-mortem.

Prasanna is the daughter of Kunhiraman and Janaki of Chekkikulam, Kannur.
