THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala unit of CPM is looking forward to the central committee's decision regarding the party's membership in the Coordination Committee of the INDIA front, a coalition of opposition parties formed at the national level.

The CPM Politburo meeting held last month decided to stay away from the coordination committee. However, during the last state committee meeting that reported on the matter, the majority of the members disagreed with the Politburo's stand. The Congress is alleging that CPM's decision to stay out of the coordination committee after being a member of other sub-committees of the INDIA Front shows that there is a strong undercurrent between the BJP and the CPM.

The members of the state committee argued that the party should stand with the opposition alliance formed against the BJP and that the stand to the contrary did not suit the sentiments of the secular forces.
