THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: 15 days' wages for 55 days of work. That's what 27,000 KSRTC employees have to manage with without any assurance of getting the rest.

Salary disbursements are endless because the finance department has not fulfilled its promise of 50 crore monthly financial assistance. With everything stopped, the lives of the staff are out of order. If there is further delay, the trade unions have decided to go on strike.

Rs 30 crores received at the beginning of the month and 10 crores taken from own funds were paid as the first installment of salary.

Pensioners in trouble

The pension for the months of September and October is also due. The lives of 40,000 people who depend on the pension amount are in misery. Rs 80 crore was demanded to settle one month's arrears. The finance department has put forward a proposal to form a consortium and transfer the amount in the old way. The pension amount was transferred directly to KSRTC two months before this due to the disruption of the consortium deal due to the interest dispute.

Although the High Court has ruled that the pension should be distributed within five months of every month, it is not being implemented due to financial crisis.
