MUMBAI: In a horrific incident, a dispute over cooking resulted in a mother being beaten and set on fire in Navakhar village near Revadanda, Maharashtra. The dead has been identified as Changuna Namdeo Khot. The police have arrested her twenty-six-year-old son, Jayesh.

The tragic event occurred when Jayesh returned home in the evening, asking his mother to serve him food. However, as the meal was not ready, a heated argument ensued between them. In a fit of rage, Jayesh brutally assaulted his mother. Subsequently, he dragged the unconscious Changuna to an open area near their house and set her ablaze. Dry sticks collected from a nearby forest were used to fuel the fire. Unconscious Changuna had no means to defend herself. After watching his mother's body engulfed in flames for a period, Jayesh fled into the forest.

Neighbours who saw the fire spread put out the fire and rushed her to the hospital with the help of the police. Tragically, Changuna succumbed to her injuries while receiving medical treatment. The police conducted an investigation that led to Jayesh's arrest in the nearby forest.
