JAIPUR: In the run-up to the assembly elections in Rajasthan, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a raid on the residence of Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra. The raid is connected to the recent question paper leak scandal for the recruitment of government school teachers. ED sources have indicated that searches are being carried out at six other locations as well.
Dotasra has not yet responded to the incident. The ED's inspection has turned out to be a big setback for the Congress when the state is set to have a tough contest between the Congress and the BJP.
Last week, the ED seized twelve lakh rupees and fake documents from the houses of Congress leader Dinesh Khodaniya and other leaders.
Dinesh had responded to the media that it was politically motivated. He said that he would file a defamation case against BJP Rajya Sabha MP Kirodi Lal Meena, who accused him of being connected to arrested Public Service Commission member Babulal Katara. Dinesh added that this issue was created by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and that the BJP was deliberately attacking the Ashok Gehlot government.
The ED started the investigation based on the police case that the accused leaked the question paper of the examination and bought and sold it from the candidates for Rs 8 to 10 lakh. ED had arrested public service member Anil Kumar Meena who distributed question papers to candidates through a criminal syndicate.
