THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: PS Prasanth, who left the Congress and joined the CPM, will take charge as the President of the Travancore Devaswom Board. An agreement was reached in this regard in the CPM state secretariat.

The appointment comes at the end of the current president K Anantha Gopan's tenure. Anantha Gopan's term ends on November 14.

Prasanth was a UDF candidate who contested from Nedumangad in the last assembly elections. He lost to Food Minister GR Anil. Prasanth was expelled from the party after he expressed disapproval over the DCC reorganization. Following the expulsion, he joined CPM. In the absence of Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, A Vijayaraghavan was acting secretary of the CPM when PS Prasanth joined the party.

Prasanth started a riot in the party after Congress made Palode Ravi the DCC president who sabotaged his election campaign in the assembly elections. Prasanth had alleged that it was not right to give a promotion to the person who tried to defeat him in the election. He added that what he faced from the Congress was agonising for a normal Congress worker.
