NEW DELHI: A recent report has claimed that a probe will be conducted on the foreign trips of Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, who is facing allegations in the 'cash-for-query' row. According to the report, the Ethics Committee of the Lok Sabha will ask the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to provide the details of Mahua Moitra's foreign trips in the last five years. The panel is likely to approach the ministry to verify whether all due procedures such as informing the Lok Sabha and other clearances were taken by the MP Herself or not.
Meanwhile, Parliament Ethics Committee Chairman Vinod Sonkar said that the Ethics Committee of the Lok Sabha will call Mahua Moitra on October 31 over the cash-for-query allegations against her. He also said that the committee also decided to send letters to the IT Ministry and MHA to make Mahua's details available. BJP leader Nishikant Dubey, who made allegations against Mahua, had appeared before the Ethics Committee to submit oral evidence on his allegations against Mahua Moitra.
Moitra is accused of accepting money and expensive gifts from businessman Darshan Hiranandani to raise questions in the Parliament. In his affidavit submitted to the Ethics Committee, Darshan Hiranandani pointed out that Mahua had shared her Parliament login ID and password with him. Meanwhile, Mahua Moitra responded that she was ready to face any investigation. She alleged that the draft of Darshan Hiranandani's affidavit was prepared by the PMO and Darshan was forced to sign it.
