KOLKATA: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested West Bengal Forest Minister Jyotipriya Mallick in connection with an alleged case of corruption in the public distribution system. Mallick was the former food minister of the state. He was arrested early this morning after an interrogation that lasted for more than twenty hours.
He responded to the media that he was the victim of a conspiracy. Mallick was taken from his home in Salt Lake to the ED office at CGO Complex by ED officials and CRPF jawans.

The case alleged corruption in the distribution of ration while Mallick was serving as the food minister. ED raided eight houses including those of Mallick and his associates. Sources said ED is probing Mallick's links with recently arrested businessman Bakibur Rahman.
