THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Widespread rain is predicted in the state today. Yellow alert has been issued in five districts. Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Idukki are on yellow alert. The officials said there is a chance of rain with thunder and lightning in the afternoon.

The Meteorological Center informed that isolated heavy rains are likely for the next four days. Yellow alert has been issued in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Kozhikode and Wayanad tomorrow, the next day in Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and on Monday in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad.

The National Center for Oceanographic Studies (INCOIS) has informed that there is a possibility of high waves of 1.2 to 1.8 meters along the Kerala coast till 11.30 tonight. Authorities warned fishermen and coastal residents to be cautious. Meanwhile, the Central Meteorological Department has informed that there will be no disruption to fishing in Kerala-Karnataka coast and Lakshadweep area.
