KOZHIKODE: Bhagyalakshmi has come out in support of Suresh Gopi in the recent incident involving allegations of misbehaviour with a journalist. She made her stance clear during a discussion on the Media One channel.
Bhagyalakshmi recalled the early days of Suresh Gopi's career when he entered the film industry. She emphasized that he has a track record of treating women with respect and has never misbehaved with any woman in the Malayalam film industry. She expressed her disagreement with some of the political statements made by Suresh Gopi and acknowledged that they have had their disagreements, but she viewed the incident differently.
Bhagyalakshmi stated, "We have only seen him interact with women as a brotherly figure. I believe that when he spoke to the journalist, he adopted a similar friendly attitude. He sometimes forgets that he is a politician. I don't think Suresh Gopi had any wrong intentions when he put his hand on the journalist's shoulder. If she found it uncomfortable, she should have addressed it immediately. It's not right to laugh about it and then turn it into news. The journalist is the same age as his daughter. He did not behave like a politician in this instance. Even his later apology reflects the same sentiment."
Bhagyalakshmi further noted that Suresh Gopi has yet to fully adapt to the responsibilities and maturity expected of a politician. She also mentioned that she did not perceive any inappropriate behaviour in the video and questioned the decision to make it news after the fact.
Suresh Gopi had previously posted an apology on Facebook, expressing he intended to act with affection and apologizing if the journalist had experienced any emotional distress. Many individuals, including Sandeep Vachaspathi, Manjuvani Bhagyaratnam, Rahul Eshwar, and others, have also come forward to support Suresh Gopi in the matter. The incident occurred during a media interaction in Kozhikode's Tali area, where Suresh Gopi was addressing reporters.
