MALAPPURAM: Controversy over Hamas leader's online participation in Palestine solidarity event organized by Solidarity on Friday in Malappuram. The program was organized under the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami's youth organization Solidarity Youth Movement last evening under the name of Youth Defense. The program was organized under the name of Youth Resistance, with the slogan, 'Come together against Zionist Hindutva racism'. The video of Hamas leader Khaled Mashal attending the event online was released by the organizers.

BJP state president K Surendran criticized the participation of the Hamas leader in the event. Surendran said that the incident of Khaled Mashal participating online in the Palestine solidarity event in Malappuram was shocking. Under the guise of Save Palestine, they are glorifying the terrorist organization Hamas and its leaders as warriors, which is unacceptable. K Surendran also wrote in X where is Pinarayi Vijayan's Kerala Police. BJP had earlier come out against MP Shashi Tharoor's participation in the Palestine solidarity program organized by the Muslim League in Kozhikode.

Meanwhile, CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yachuri responded that Hamas is the organization that came to power after winning the elections and India has not yet considered them as a terrorist organization. Yechury also said that Kerala leaders will respond to Shashi Tharoor's response to Hamas.

Tomorrow, CPM will stage a dharna in Delhi in solidarity with the people of Palestine. PB members and central committee members will participate in the dharna which will begin at 12 noon. Party members leave from Surjeet Bhavan at AKG Bhavan and reach the place where the dharna will be held together, Yachuri said.
