KOZHIKODE: Two students drowned after a boat overturned in Cherandathur in Vadakara. The deceased are Cherandathur Edathumkara natives Adi Dev (17) and Adi Krishnan (17). Abhimanyu (17), who was with them, escaped. The accident took place at Mahe Canal this evening. The rescue operation got delayed as the news regarding the accident reached the land very late. The accident occurred when the fibre boat overturned while the three students were fishing.

When the boat overturned, Adi Dev and Adi Krishna got stuck in the moss and drowned. Abhimanyu swam to the shore and informed the locals. Soon, locals rushed to the spot and brought out the two students from the water. Both were immediately admitted to hospitals in Vadakara and Tiruvallur. However, their lives could not be saved.

The bodies of Adi Dev and Adi Krishna were shifted to Vadakara District Hospital Mortuary. The bodies will be handed over to the relatives tomorrow after post-mortem.
