CHITTARIKKAL (KASARAGOD): A student who came to school without a haircut had his hair cut in public at the school assembly. The incident took place at Mar Gregorios Memorial UP School, Kottamala, Narkilakkad, under Chittarikkal police limits. The head teacher took the 11-year-old fifth-class student to the front of the staff room and cut his hair while other students and teachers were watching. The incident happened on the 19th.
The student did not go to school due to embarrassment after this. The SC and ST Mahila Samakhya staff who visited the colony yesterday saw the child staying at home without going to school and asked the reason, bringing the incident to light. The Mahila Samakhya staff took the student to the Chittarikkal police station and lodged a complaint immediately, once they came to know about the incident.
Chittarikkal police filed a case against the head teacher Shirley under the SC and ST Act and the Juvenile Justice Act under the non-bailable section, according to the complaint filed by the student. The case was later transferred to the Kasaragod Special Mobile Squad.
