KOCHI: Police have registered a case of murder against the owners of Le Hyatt Hotel in the Kakkanad food poisoning incident. The case is on the complaint of Rahul's relatives. The FIR was changed to homicide after Rahul's death. The hotel operators hailing from Kakkanad and Thrikkakara are absconding after the incident.
At the same time, the hotel owner was made a suspect and police registered one more case against the hotel on the complaint of a 21-year-old woman from Idukki Muttam. The complaint is that she got food poisoning after eating shawarma. With this, the number of cases against Le Hyatt Hotel has increased to two.
The first case was registered against the hotel on October 23 on the complaint of Rahul's relatives. The hotel was closed by the municipality on the same day. On the 18th, Rahul fell ill after eating Shawarma ordered online from Le Hyatt Hotel. After seeking treatment on the 19th, Rahul returned to his residence and fell ill and was again admitted to the hospital on the 22nd and then put on a ventilator. He died on Wednesday. 13 people who ate at Le Hyatt sought treatment at different places.
The Idukki native and her friends ate shawarma from Le Hyatt on the 21st at 10 pm. She then sought treatment at the Co-operative Hospital for vomiting and diarrhoea. As there was no change in her health condition, she sought treatment at a private hospital in Kakkanad. The woman, who was under observation for three days, left the hospital yesterday.
Police are waiting for the result
It is known that Rahul's post-mortem report also contains crucial information. The report was submitted to the court. Currently, the police are waiting for the results of the internal organs.
