KOCHI: In the aftermath of the explosion at the Kalamassery Convention Center, the police have initiated state-wide investigations in Kerala. Vehicle inspections have been intensified in Kochi, with police chiefs receiving instructions to conduct thorough statewide investigations and strengthen patrolling. A high alert has been issued in the state, prompting security checks at crowded areas and places of worship. A similar security check is being carried out in Kannur as well.
Other states, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Maharashtra, have also been placed on high alert. This heightened security response follows the discovery that a low-powered bomb was used in the explosion at the Jehovah's Witnesses convention in Kalamassery, where IED-like materials were found at the scene. ADGP MR Ajith Kumar has been given the charge of investigation.
The incident occurred this morning at around 9:30 AM at the Samra International Convention Center, which was hosting a regional conference for Jehovah's Witnesses. The conference, which began on the 27th of the month, had over 2,000 attendees. Tragically, a woman lost her life in the blast, and 36 individuals sustained injuries, with seven of them currently in critical condition.
