KOCHI: Police have identified Dominic Martin, a Thammanam resident as the person responsible for the blast that occurred during a Jehovah's Witnesses convention in Kalamassery. The police found that the explosion was triggered remotely, and they obtained footage of the bomb being detonated via Martin's mobile phone. The explosive device was made using a bottle filled with petrol. Martin has provided information to the police about where he obtained the materials for the bomb, and he claimed to have learned how to make it from the internet.

In a Facebook video released before surrendering, Martin confessed to planting the bomb. He had been a member of the same church for sixteen years but grew convinced that Jehovah's Witnesses were promoting ideas he considered treasonous. Martin stated in the video that people like him would take action against this.
