LUCKNOW: England's bowling attack turned ferocious and wreaked havoc for the usually resolute Indian top order on Sunday's World Cup game at Lucknow. India’s spectacular form in the World Cup tournament reached testy waters on Sunday as the batting lineup crumbled but somehow wriggled past the danger to put the scoreline to 229 runs. India lost nine wickets in their innings.

Rohit Sharma, K L Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav showed perseverance and carried India to a decent total with some valued performance sans any usual firework batting. Rohit Sharma scored 87 runs off 101 balls including three sixes and ten fours. At one point, India was 40 for three in 11.5 overs. Rohit-Rahul combination of 91 runs proved decisive for India to thwart the looming calamity.

England sent India to bat first and it was the first time the Blue Army got to bat first in this year's tournament. Ace batsman Virat Kohli returned back to the pavilion without scoring any runs. England, aiming for their first victory in the tournament has scored 33 runs with the loss of three wickets, as of now. Jaspit Bumrah took two wickets and also dismissed Ben Stokes for a duck.
