KOCHI: One more person, who was undergoing treatment in the hospital after being injured in the Kalamassery blast has died. The deceased is Kumari (53), a native of Thodupuzha. Kumari was severely burnt in the blast. With this, the death toll in the explosion at the Jehovah's Witnesses convention in Kalamassery has risen to two.
A woman died on the spot in the blast that occurred around 9:30 today morning. No further information has been released about her. More than 35 people were injured in the incident. It is also reported that the child with 80 percent burns is on a ventilator. The blast took place at the Zamra International Convention Center near the Medical College in Kalamassery. Today was the last day of the convention which has been going on since the 27th of this month. It is reported that more than 2,000 people participated in the conference. The injured were shifted to different hospitals.
Police are searching the house of Dominic Martin, a native of Thammanam. The search is being conducted at the rented house where he lives with his family in Thammanam. Martin's wife Mini told the police that he had left his house at 5 am. Mini also testified that he did not reveal where he was going. Police said that Martin learned how to make a bomb in six months and he learned how to make it through the internet. He had planted the bomb along with a bottle filled with petrol at the prayer hall.
