THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan termed the Kalamassery bomb blast as an "unfortunate" incident. Then CM condemned the incident while talking to the press on Sunday. The CM also informed the press about allotting a special group to investigate the incident. ADGP MR. Ajith Kumar is the leader of the group.
The 21-member special investigation team includes Kochi City Police Commissioner A. Akbar, Anti-Terrorism Squad DIG Putta Vimaladitya, Kochi City Police Deputy Commissioner S. Sasidharan, Thrikakkara Assistant Commissioner PV Baby, Ernakulam Town Assistant Commissioner Raj Kumar. P, Kalamassery Police Station Inspector Vipin Das. Kannamali Police Station Inspector Rajesh, Kurupumpadi Police Station Inspector Feroz, Anti-Terror Squad Inspector Biju John Lukes and 11 other police officers are members. Kochi City Police Deputy Commissioner S Sasidharan is the investigating officer.
CM assured about stringent actions and said all doors of escape would be closed for people involved in the crime. As of now, 41 people are still under treatment. In the latest news, another woman died from serious burns taking the total death toll to two. The condition of five remains critical. There are 14 people in ICU.
The CM also praised the ideal stance taken by certain media houses and particularly pointed out one channel that had to intervene with caution to point out fake news that was propagating in the name of the channel.
