AMARAVATI: At least six people died in a fatal train collision that took place in Kantakapalli in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh on late Sunday night. Three bogies of the passenger train derailed due to the impact of the collision. More than 25 people were reported injured.
A passenger train was going from Visakhapatnam to Rayagada in Odisha. Due to a break in the Overhead cable, the passenger train was stopped. Shockingly, Palasa Express, the incoming train stormed to the same track and collided with the stopped passenger train instantly derailing three coaches of the passenger train. Six people who died were passengers from these derailed bogies.
Andhra Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy condoled the accident. The Chief Minister has directed the authorities to take immediate relief measures at the accident site and ensure immediate medical assistance to the injured.
