THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) is poised for a reorganization of its political affairs committee, with indications of imminent changes. KPCC President K. Sudhakaran has submitted a list of 32 potential members to the party's high command. This list follows a month-long exchange of ideas among various groups and senior party leaders.

Notably, the list includes almost all of the state's MPs.

In addition to MLAs Sunny Joseph, AP Anilkumar, Shafi Parampil, and executive committee members KP Dhanapalan, VS Sivakumar, and Varkala Kahar, names like Ajay Tharail, Bindu Krishna, and Joseph Vazhakkan are also being considered for inclusion in the committee. The selection process has taken into account the communal equation.

Since the formation of the Political Affairs Committee in 2016, it has consisted of 21 members. The membership was expanded to 23 with the inclusion of PT Thomas and T. Siddiqui when they were appointed as KPCC Working Presidents. Currently, the committee's size may grow to 35 members, considering various factors.

However, it's worth noting that committee members P.C. Chacko and K.V. Thomas have left the Congress to join other parties, while P.T. Thomas, Oommen Chandy, and M.I. Shanavas have passed away. V.M. Sudheeran resigned from the committee, and after stepping down as KPCC President, Mullapally Ramachandran no longer attends political affairs committee meetings. The final approval of the list will be determined by the central leadership, taking into consideration these developments.
