THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The court has sentenced Roy (27) of Anchuthengu Thattimula to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 for the murder of an 18-year-old friend. The verdict was delivered by Sixth Additional District Judge K. Vishnu.

The incident occurred on April 27, 2014, during a Tamil Nadu troupe's musical event organized by the Thonikav Yuvasakthi Sports and Arts Club in Anchuthengu Katapuram. Tragically, 18-year-old Rixon lost his life when the accused, Roy, stabbed him on his way back from the concert. The motive behind the attack was Roy's accusation that Rixon had spread false rumours about him, specifically claiming that Rixon had trespassed into a nearby women's hostel.

The key eyewitness in the case is Tommy, the son of Varghese, who was with Rixon at the time of the incident.Shanti, a neighbour, also testified, stating that she saw the hidden assailant stabbing Rixon near the Thettimoola Orphanage. When she heard Rixon's screams, she witnessed the attack, with Roy fleeing the scene with a knife in hand. The prosecution was represented by Public Prosecutors M. Salahuddin, Devika Madhu, and Akhila Lal. The case investigation was conducted by S. Sheriff, who served as the Station House Officer (SHO) of Kadikavoor.
