THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Meteorological Department has issued a warning about heavy rainfall in certain areas of the state for the next five days. A yellow alert has been declared in several districts due to the expected heavy rain.

Today, a yellow alert is in effect for Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts. This is due to the impact of a cyclonic circulation over Sri Lanka and the Comorin region along with north-easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal affecting South India.

On Friday, districts including Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur are on a yellow alert. On Saturday, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Thrissur are included in the alert. Also, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts will remain on a yellow alert.

From November 3rd to 5th, expect moderate to heavy rains with widespread thundershowers across Kerala. The Central Meteorological Department also warns of the possibility of heavy rain in some isolated areas.
