GAZA: Israeli military has escalated its assault on Gaza's Hamas leadership. Reports confirm that the Israeli forces, during an incursion into Gaza have eliminated senior Hamas figures and destroyed numerous tunnels. Additionally, the Israeli military has razed the family residence of Hamas commander Salah al-Arouri in the West Bank and continues its efforts to locate more Hamas leaders. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that at this stage, he is not open to any ceasefire. He argues that a ceasefire would be tantamount to surrendering to Hamas. The United States, Israel's ally also opposes a ceasefire.
Israel's counteroffensive initiated after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, is now in its fourth week. Ground clashes resulted in the deaths of several Hamas fighters in Gaza recently, while the Israeli Air Force targeted and destroyed several key militant strongholds. In an official statement, the Israeli military disclosed that it had neutralized roughly 300 sites including anti-tank missile positions, rocket launch sites, and underground tunnel-based terrorist facilities.
Meanwhile, the people of Gaza continue to endure hardships such as power shortages, food shortages and limited access to clean water. Israel has repeatedly urged residents of northern Gaza to relocate to the southern part of the territory. The Israeli military has also released footage showing armoured vehicles positioned along the Mediterranean coast and Gaza City's main thoroughfare.
